Technical Film Roles

Technical crew are the operational core of any production, translating a director's vision into images and sound through craft, equipment knowledge, and disciplined on-set practice. In Portugal, productions work across environments that test technical crews in different ways — the extreme heat and light of the Alentejo in summer, the humidity and wind near the Atlantic coast, and the cramped, uneven spaces of historic city centres in Lisbon, Porto, and Coimbra. Our technical crew are selected for both their professional expertise and their experience working in Portuguese conditions.

Directors of Photography and Camera Operators bring experience across drama, documentary, and commercial formats, working with the full range of cinema and broadcast camera systems. Sound Mixers and Boom Operators capture clean location audio in environments ranging from controlled interiors to exposed outdoor shoots, while Sound Recordists manage multitrack recording and wireless systems across complex multi-character setups. Drone Operators hold current Portuguese airspace authorisations for both coastal and urban zones, and Underwater Camera Operators work with specialist housing and lighting systems for marine shoots off Portugal's Atlantic and Algarve coastlines. DIT and Data Technicians provide on-set media management and quality control throughout each shoot day.
